Activity - Beating the January Blues

I had intended for this to be part of last year's icontalking Awards but I was swamped with real life stuff and never got around to posting it. Better late than never!

I don't know if this is the right place to say this, but I just want to thank tinnny for being so welcoming to me, when I first joined in with the icon-making community (and livejournal in general!). I have only really been making icons since August 2016, and the concrit I received from her really inspired me to keep going. Her comments are always insighful and really helpful. :)

Massive thank you to rizbef for keeping bestof_icons going! I'm going through the nominations icons now and discovering so many beautiful icons I had somehow missed during 2016! It must be such a huge task organising this event, and you do an incredible job!

I second this a thousand times over. Bestof_icons is my favorite livejournal icon event. It always makes me, and I am sure other makers, feel appreciated and special. <3 It's a lovely way to see what icons people enjoyed the most, and a great chance for you to see beautiful icons from other makers!

This is a wonderful idea for a meme :) I definitely agree with all that's been written above, but I wanna add that I have SO MUCH respect for people like novindalf, violateraindrop and shameless666 who take the time to make praise posts so regularly - I don't know how you manage that amount of work and it's wonderful. I often miss lots of icon posts during the breaks I sometimes need, so it's fantastic to be able to come back and see the very best of what I've missed all in one place. Not to mention how happy it makes me to sometimes be featured in them, too :) Thanks for all your work guys! ♥

I literally haven't made a praise post in years, and I'm always awed by those who make them regularly and take time organize the posts by color, category, etc. Those posts are such easy ways to catch up on icons I've missed throughout months of absence, and I'm sure anyone who's ever had a piece included in one knows how exciting and motivating those posts can be! :D

I'd like to get out a general praise for everyone who runs an icon community - that includes the non-challenge ones like this one, or best-of, and the special events like turbo-rumble and icon-talk, as well as the high-effort ones like with daily/weekly/bi-weekly challenges.

I love being a part of the icon maker community. Everyone puts in a little effort, and we create so many beautiful things together! <3

Shout out to naginis, setentpet, and sietepecados for keeping inspiring icon challenge communities alive. Your work and dedication in providing a place for icon makers to participate and submit their icons keeps my making icons, even during busy times and dry spots.
