Icontalking Awards - Poll

Hey guys, just to keep you in the loop about the awards - we (myself and the five other makers who have kindly volunteered to help run the awards) have discussed the suggested extra awards categories and which ones we think we'd like to include but we'd like to ask your opinions on the following suggestions which we couldn't reach a consensus on.

Contribution to Community? - This would be slightly different to the Most Supportive and Best Mod awards in that it applies to anyone who contributes to the icon community (whether through modding, participating, commenting/praising, or anything else you can thing of), however there could still be a fair amount of overlap.

Most Creative Icon? - There is often a lot of overlap between complex and creative icons, but it might be nice to have a separate category just for the creativity?

ETA: We've decided to include the Most Creative Icon award, and to replace the Most Supportive Maker award with the Contribution to Community award, as suggested by shameless666. Thanks for all the poll responses!

Okay, I voted yes to the first question, but I think it will be better if Contributon to Community and Most Supportive are one category (i.e. Most Supportive being part of Contribution to Community), because they mostly overlap and also I'm not sure what Most Supportive means anymore, it's more like a niche category now in comparison to past years.

Thanks for the feedback! We were kinda going back and forth about the difference between Contribution to Community and Most supportive too and you really do make a fair point about the most supportive award. Everyone these days is so good at making icons that there isn't a lot of advice giving and cheerleading going on.

I wanted to throw in a comment here - not a disagreement just an opinion.

I actually think there is still a lot of room for advice giving and cheerleading. Most of the icon makers you see around are really good. They've been polishing their skills for years or are learning their techniques, etc.

But especially in lims communities you see makers who would probably appreciate cheer leading, and there is plenty of advice to be given. Lims allow people to be honest and say what they think even really skilled makers need to improve on. So. I still think advice needs to be given and cheering needs to be done. :)
